The guitar is a great instrument to learn! From rock and roll to country to classical music; guitar is such a versatile instrument. We recommend students don't start on this instrument until about 8 year old. If you're a little younger we recommend starting on Ukulele or scheduling an evaluation lesson to ensure that guitar will be a good fit. Keep in mind that guitars come in various sizes and you want to make sure that the guitar is the right size for the student before purchasing one! Also, there are 3 main types that you will find: Electric, Acoustic, and Classical (Spanish).
If you have questions, please ask your teacher for some advice!

The piano is one of the best instruments to start your journey in music. It's layout makes understanding music theory easier than on any other instrument. Add to this that pianists have to read the bass clef and treble clef simultaneously and suddenly they have a real leg-up when making the transition from piano to almost any other instrument that they choose to play in the future. Typically we don't start piano lessons until a student is at least 4 years old. There are also many purchase options from grand pianos to keyboards.

Each has pros and cons so don't be shy about asking your teacher questions to ensure you make the best decision for you!

Student singing in a voice lesson

The voice is a very special instrument! For one, it's the only instrument that almost everyone has! It's also the only instrument that you can take with you no matter where you go. Each person has a unique voice with a certain range , timbre, and sound quality all their own. Fortunately when learning to sing using correct technique you can apply that skill to any style of singing you can think of. When approaching voice lessons it is important to come in ready to try new things. Our teachers want to help you reach your goals and to do that they may require you to add some vocal and breathing exercises to your daily routine. We currently accept voice students that are 7 years or older.

Child playing the Violin

In the strings family we offer violin, viola, and cello lessons, These are great instruments for students to learn! We typically don't recommend starting these instruments until the age of 4.

The violin is the highest pitched string instrument and is referred to as the 'King of the Orchestra'.

The cello is a low pitched string instrument that is always played in a  seated position. It has a very rich and deep sound quality.

The viola is a balance between these two instruments. Viola has the brightness of a violin and the depth of a cello.

If you are having difficulty choosing between violin and cello, viola might be the best choice for you!

Ukulele

Student playing the Ukulele

The ukulele is one of those instruments that is quite unique in it's nature. Originated in Hawaii, over time, the instrument has spread out  from Hawaii and ultimately managed to reach just about every corner of  the world. These days, it’s an instrument that brings joy to thousands of people around the globe.  There are many great things about the ukulele besides its cool sound. The first is that it is relatively easy to start playing. Small enough for very young musicians and nylon strings that are much softer on the fingers than traditional metal guitar strings. These are both reasons we have children as young as 5 years old taking ukulele lessons!
